Jet Airways announces Dammam-Calicut flight

India’s Jet Airways has announced its eighth daily direct flight from India to Saudi Arabia — between Dammam and Calicut in the southern state of Kerala — making it the largest Indian operator to the Kingdom.
Beginning June 10, Calicut (Kozhikode) is the third destination of the private airline in Kerala after Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) and Cochin (Kochi) to get a direct flight to Saudi Arabia.
The new flight, 9W 578 will depart Calicut at 10 p.m. and arrive at Dammam at 12 a.m. local time. The return flight will leave Dammam at 10.20 a.m. local time and arrive at Kozhikode at 5.15 PM local time, it said in a statement.
Besides Dammam, Jet now operates daily flights to Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat and Sharjah from Cochin while Kuwait is connected via Abu Dhabi. Jet Airways connects Dammam and Muscat from Trivandrum on a daily basis.
“Jet Airways has already established itself as a prestigious brand in the intensely competitive India-Gulf sector in a relatively short period of time and the enhanced connectivity emphasizes the commitment to the growing market,” said Gaurang Shetty, senior vice-president- Commercial, Jet Airways.
The new addition has also made it India’s first private airline to operate over 50 daily flights to multiple destinations in the Gulf.
The new flight will see Jet Airways deploy the Boeing 737-800 narrow body aircraft offering premiere and economy seating.
“This non-stop service that will afford its guests the convenience of seamless point-to-point travel...will prove immensely popular with our guests,” he said.
“This is an important landmark in the evolution and emergence of Jet Airways as India’s premier international airline, as we will now operate over 126 daily flights to key international destinations.”
